IC: Midsummer Rising
Midsummer.
Longest day, brightest day, day of celebration for those of the Light and also of the Wild.
It will be a day of great power-- and had once marked the ending of the rising Dark in the world she had once called her own.
But here at the end of all the worlds, she intends to change things. The longest and brightest day it may be, but there is another side to it as well; for at the moment that the sun passes zenith, the time of Light also passes.
So begins the long slow fall into the Dark.
This time, the White Rider means to turn her carefully-gathered power to advantage at that precise moment, bringing the cycle to an entirely different ending -- for everyone.
She is smiling cruelly when she steps out of the forest and starts toward the bar, half-lost in her thoughts and her plans.

"You, I think, are sometimes very staid. It is almost upsetting."
He looks remarkably serious when he says it, though.
If you ignore his eyes.

Not nearly enough, to some ways of thinking.
The Champion laughs out loud, a high ringing sound, and gives Raven a playful shove in return.
"I can't say I've never been called upsetting before," he says, grinning. "Fortunately you, on the other hand, are always a calming and reassuring influence. Of course."

Much.
"It is not easily disputed, no."
He is hard-pressed not to laugh, however.
"Though I do think you look better with feathers, perhaps."
There is no bias in that judgement. Not at all.
"It is less prone to frying retinas. I do not like when the eyeballs taste funny."

"Feathers get old after a decade or so with no breaks," and he makes a face. "I'll be back in them soon enough, and you can go back to mocking me with your lack of biology. As opposed to just mocking."
no subject
"You know me very well, I think."
Raven smiles, for a brief moment, black eyes bright.
"It is fortunate I do not much mind."
no subject
"Lucky I don't mind the mockery, either," he says lightly. "I'll see you in the bar, bird."
Light like starfire blazes around him again, blinding, brighter than it probably needs to be, and the Champion is gone when it fades.

The Champion's grandstanding is cute.
When, of course, it isn't terrifyingly effective.
Many things are like that.
